Badminton Athletes on route to Special Olympics Sheffield 2017

The badminton athletes, Jenny, Michael and Daniel (pictured below) have been very busy training ahead of the Special Olympics.

They have also competed in two tournaments since the beginning of the year.  The first was the Scottish Disability Championships on 28 January where all three athletes were victorious and won silver or gold medals in singles, double or mixed doubles.  In February they competed in the 4 Nations tournament at Ravenscraig which comprised of athletes from all over the UK.  Michael won a gold in his men’s doubles and silvers for both singles and mixed doubles.  Jenny was delighted with silvers for doubles and mixed and finally Daniel had a very convincing Gold medal win in Class 6 Men’s singles.

This competitive practice is invaluable ahead of the Special Olympics but they are all continuing to work hard and train regularly at Lothian Disability Badminton Club.
